Title: SIG P229
Post by: Schmenge on September 18, 2013, 11:30:39 PM
I went to see Chris at Federal Firearms today to see what my Colt Combat Commander was worth. I've been thinking about selling it for a while now.

To make a long story short, I came home with a brand new P229. All it took was my Combat Commander and a surprisingly small amount of cash.

When I got home, my wife said, "What did you do now?" All I could say was "I couldn't help it. It was just too good of a deal."

I'll be at the range Friday morning.

Thanks Chris!

I second.. (or is it third?) that.

I recently picked up my Savage .308 from Chris as well as a SW Sigma .40 (it was cheaper than trying to sell the .40 hollow points I had) and it's always a pleasure to do business with a local, small business who has very reasonable prices, but more so with someone who gives you undivided attention to your questions and the biggest plus in my book..  there's no bullcrap.  He knows his stuff.

Chris, I wish you had a range.  :)

In any case, whatever you're looking for..   contact Chris. He's either got it or will have it very quickly.

So I got the new Sig on the range this morning and put 60 rounds through it. Would it surprise anyone if I said no malfunctions and it shoots great?

I think this is my new favorite gun. Now if someone would invent a self cleaning gun, I'd be willing to pay a little extra for that.

Hey Chris,

I fired some of that Liberty Ultra Defense. Significantly less recoil and very accurate. I like it a lot.

Nope, not surprised at all.  My Sig shoots like butter. LOVE it.

what caliber did you get?   I bought my 229 w/o rail back in 2002 chambered in 357 sig.   now i use it as my everyday carry gun

It's also a P229 but in 9mm. Bought it for a steal back in I think 2007?  I love the firearm, but I'm NOT a fan of the double action, so it's not a concealed carry choice for me. However...  if I had to, I'd do so.

My daily carry is either a glock 32 (.357) or a glock 19 (9mm) or a S&W M&P 9mm.  However...   my most favorite is a S&W Sigma .40.

I got a 9mm. It replaces my Combat Commander 9mm.

Now I need something in .357 Sig. You gotta have one of each flavor right?

I love Sigs, but I wish they made a 10mm model.

They are wonderful guns, but are super over priced in my opinion. LOVE them, but at what point do I choose to purchase other good caliber firearms at less cost and put the "extra money" towards ammo or another firearm.  But then again..   :)  it shoots like butter! LOL

Yes, if you can afford to do so, you need one of every flavor.   ;D

Lol I remember saying I wanted to stick to just one or two calibers.. Gone is that thought!  ::) Still don't have any .40&w  ;D

I fired a couple sigs and just couldn't justify their costs. That and they didn't fit my hand that good. Undeniable quality firearm yes but still overpriced for what it was. Now my classic PPQs fit great, are acceptably priced, have a fantastic trigger allowing controlled double and even triple taps.

I have about 300 rounds thru the SIG now. I just bought a set of SIG night sights and had Nathan Sanders install them for me. He did a nice job. I also installed a set of Hogue grips, they are much better than the grips that came with it.

This will probably end up being my CC gun going forward. I shoot this gun better than any of the others.
