New York Case Scheduled

(1/2) > >>

Clarence:
The Supreme Court has scheduled the case of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association vs City of New York for December.

This is the case where by the city of New York bans anyone owning a handgun from leaving the city with it even for target shooting or to take to a second home. The City of New York spent huge sums defending this regulation through several layers of court hearings.   When the US Supreme Court agreed to hear the case they panicked.

They attempted to stop the process by changing the regulation. Now the Supreme Court has called their bluff and agreed to hear the case which they tried to mute.

They are so worried about this that several US senators have actually threatened the court with changing the structure of the court unless they agree not to hear the case. A favorable ruling for us would establish the precident that transporting a gun outside the home is a very constitutionally protected practice. This is almost as huge as the Heller Decision.

Rest assured, the anti-gun crowd is really worried about this.

This is the US Supreme Court.

SturmRugerSR9:
How do these "several US Senators" think the can change the structure of the Supreme Court without losing their own Senate seat?

The constitution does not state the size of the Supreme Court.  Congress could just expand the court to say
15 members and then “pack” the court with 6 socialist democrats.

That is what these senators basically threatened if the court were to expand 2nd Amendment protections.
