I'll be filing my paperwork for my DE renewal next week. Will update wait time for the forum
-
Me too, everything ready to go next week.

The wife and I got our applications for renewal notarized today. Hopefully, I'll get them dropped off Tuesday or Wednesday.
-
My wife's permit expires this year. We're going to submit the renewal application in person on Friday the 12th.
-
Paperwork turned in today, 1430. Prothonotary gave Dale Broome a quick call, looking at 3-6 months for renewal she said. Hopefully that's just the 'ol standard answer they give for everyone that asks about wait times. I'm good until 5/31, so....

Paperwork mailed today . I can’t remember how long it took in 2013 for renewal ?? I believe it was here b4 it expired.

You're good past that date as long as you are in an active renewal process.

An interesting question is what does (3) mean by "pending before the court"? Does that include the whole time that the renewal is being processed by the Prothonotary or just the time when the renewal is waiting for the judge's signature?
§ 1442 Carrying a concealed deadly weapon; class G felony; class D felony (http://delcode.delaware.gov/title11/c005/sc07/index.shtml#1442)
A person is guilty of carrying a concealed deadly weapon when the person carries concealed a deadly weapon upon or about the person without a license to do so as provided by § 1441 of this title.
Carrying a concealed deadly weapon is a class G felony, unless the deadly weapon is a firearm, in which case it is a class D felony.
It shall be a defense that the defendant has been issued an otherwise valid license to carry a concealed deadly weapon pursuant to terms of § 1441 of this title, where:
(1) The license has expired,
(2) The person had applied for renewal of said license within the allotted time frame prior to expiration of the license, and
(3) The offense is alleged to have occurred while the application for renewal of said license was pending before the court.

This is why I made 2 copies of the original. Had to file an original and a copy. Asked them to time stamp and attach my receipt
to my copy. Doubt it will be needed but CYA in case...
-
They use to process renewals before processing new applications. Don't know if that has changed or not.
-
Got mine in 48 days 2 years ago.
-
I happened to be first in line at the Prothonotary Jan. 2nd for my renewal. My understanding is they collect all renewals and new applications and send them to N C County every Friday. Last time it was almost a 2 month wait.
-
Turned my renewal application in on 01/03/17
Received new permit on 02/02/17
Kent Co.
-
We hand-delivered Mrs. OGG's renewal application Wednesday morning (the 17th) in Wilmington.
-
When is it to late to get you paperwork in this month slipped by me I need to get my renewal app in.

Affidavits for the renewal of a license may be filed after January 1 but no later than June 1 of the year of license expiration.

Turned my wife's and my own applications in at the Kent County Prothonotary's Office on January 03, 2018 and we both received them in the mail today, February 09, 2018. Given how long it took me to get the initial license back, I'm okay with a 38 day turnaround on the renewal. As an added bonus, it is the new style CCDW license that is the same size as a driver's license and it won't be tearing up my wallet like the last over-sized one did!

Even then you are OK if you have filed for renewal.

I wouldn’t worry, but you could always check to make sure that they received it.

Did they cash your check?

We have that "Informed Delivery" service from the post office, where they mail you scans of your incoming mail every morning.
(In case you were wondering whether the USPS keeps a record of the mail you receive... they do).
We filed my wife's (NCC) renewal in person on January 17th. Today, she has a letter coming in from the Prothonotary.
Will post again when it shows up...
-
They cashed the check and I sent it return receipt, which I was notified.

My PA. non-resident permit is coming due in a few months. My question is, How soon can I go get my CC permit renewed before it expires. I may have reason to go to Lancaster before it expires and can save making another trip later.
-
Depends on where you got the original and/or where you go. Some are 30 min, some are 2 wks. My initial trip to Media(Delaware County) was two trips about 2 wks apart. Renewal was about 15-20 minutes. You must have your current DE permit, but expiration does not seem to matter.
-
My original permit was issued at Lancaster, and I plan on going back there. My renewal time is October. My question is can I renew before that date, as I may need to be away then and would like to get it renewed in June, if possible. Any words of wisdom?

See from PA law:
c) At least 60 days prior to the expiration of each license, the issuing sheriff shall send to the licensee an application for a renewal of license. Failure to receive a renewal application does not relieve a licensee from the responsibility to renew the license
Also your license is actually valid for six months past the due date in PA.
The process for renewal is exactly the same as a new license.
The later you apply, the better as the 5 year clock starts when you get the license.

Only a month and a half turn around time for my renewal. I was not expecting that.
