Maryland permit

seniorgeek:
I sent in my paperwork for the Maryland "wear and carry" permit on Thursday.
I am very curious to see how the process moves forward.
One thing I found out, is that if you are a veteran you can submit your DD214 and you do not have to take the Maryland training course.
This cuts out one step in the process.
The people that I used for references said they will call me if/when they get a call from the MD PD.

I will update this thread as I get status updates if any.

Oh, I did not have a real unique or other special reason, so .....

I took a look at the MSP site, doesn't look possible for just a "common citizen" to obtain.

I also didn't see anything for "non-Residents", but perhaps I missed that.

Not something I'd be willing to try, as I do not want to be answering yes, to  the "have you ever been denied a permit" question, that appears on most states CCW applications.

Very curious to hear how things go for you, wish you the best of luck.

I just received a letter today saying the all my background checks came back negative.
Step 1 - I passed the background checks. I knew I would so no problem there.
Step 2 - I don't know but as I receive updates I will post them.

Wayne15464:
Don't forget to update us!

I am very curious as to how this ends for you, sorry to say I'm pretty sure it will end with a denial.

But, I hope you are able to prove me wrong.

Update 9-11-2019
Step 2 - My wife received a call from the MD State Police and they asked her the following questions:
MSP: How long have you been married?
Wife: 49 years
MSP: Has your husband ever been mean to you or children?
Wife: No, never
MSP: Does your husband do drugs or consume a large amount of alcohol?
Wife: Not since we have been married.
MSP: Anyone under the age of 18 living in your house?
Wife: no
MSP: Do you have a concealed carry permit?
Wife: Yes, DE, PA, UTAH.
MSP: Do you have a gun safe in the house?
Wife: Yes
MSP: Thank you for answering these questions.
Wife: How is the process going?
MSP: Just fine.
End of the phone conversation.
