Title: CCW for 18 year old
Post by: tonygoldston on November 06, 2017, 12:43:24 AM
I just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts/ideas about a newly turned 18 year old applying for a CCW permit.

Thanks in advance.
Tony

I know a guy who got his when he was 19

He couldnt buy a hand gun from a dealer but his parents could buy him one. And i guess he could still legally buy off another person in a private transaction

Dont see why not (18yo getting CCDW).

§ 1441 License to carry concealed deadly weapons.

(a) A person of full age

§ 701 Age of majority.

A person of the age of 18 years or older on June 16, 1972, and any person who attains the age of 18 years thereafter, shall be deemed to be of full legal age for all purposes whatsoever and shall have the same duties, liabilities, responsibilities, rights and legal capacity as persons heretofore acquired at 21 years of age unless otherwise provided.

If you are looking for the course, we are having an additional one this Sunday the 12th

I know a guy who received his.  Not sure of his age.  He was at least 18 but he looked 15 or 16.

I would be on the other side of the coin. I do not feel that an 18 year old in mentally mature enough to bare the responsibilities of CCW. Some are still in high school at 18. Another 3 years of life experience will be a benefit.

It would be a very rare 18 year old to earn my trust. Possible but improbable. Put them behind the wheel of a muscle car and see how they behave.
