Post by: Gorski on April 28, 2019, 05:12:41 PM
Hi All,
My PA permit is going to expire on the 5th of May and I may not be able to get there to renew prior to.  I know I should have checked sooner      :-[ UGH  ...  Is there a procedure to reapply or is it then a new application with no regard to having had a permit for 10 years...Anyone else go through this type of situation.....Many Thanks

The PA procedure to renew is exactly the same as a new license.

Remember that Lancaster County no longer issues non resident licenses.

Your best bet for in/out same day service is Berks County (Reading).

Even after you expire you are good in your vehicle open or concealed because of your Delaware license.

After the grace period ( six months) you may not conceal carry on foot until you renew.

Do you have a reference to Pennsylvania or Federal law where this is stated?

Thank you.

That appears to be part of an Amendment made in 2018. I recall when I first received my DE license, and then went to get my PA LTCF, I was cautioned not to carry my sidearm on the way to the Sheriff's office (although it would have been legal to carry back on the way home, provided I was successfully granted my PA LTCF).

I guess laws are constantly changing. It is not always easy to keep up with them.

Actually the Sheriff was wrong.   The vehicle exemption for ANY license  has been law in PA at least since 1988.
