Title: I had sort of a DGU yesterday
Post by: oldgraygeek on October 04, 2019, 04:40:10 PM
We bought a new house in Caravel Farms. I called in a locksmith to re-key several locks.

When he (finally) showed up, I knew something was fishy. I realized this was the famous "locksmith scam" where an out-of-town swindler pretends to be a local company and robs you blind.
The "locksmith" looked at what I wanted him to do, and told me it would be $90 per lock instead of the $25 I had been quoted on the phone.

I asked him to leave, and instead he wanted to haggle the price.
I TOLD him to leave, but he didn't, insisting I talk to his boss on the phone.
I very calmly put my Safepacker on my belt; he clearly realized what it was.
I patted it, looked him in the eyes, and told him to get out of my house.

I think he left skid marks, and not only from his tires...

I have had good dealings with the company, at 8th & Shipley, not sure if they are still there.  I think ABC locks.

On Shipley is Allied Lock.  Very reputable.
