Title: Problem w/ my Makarov?

I'm a having a problem with the EG Makarov I just purchased.  The slide is getting stuck after I pull it back to try to chamber a round.  In some instances it releases automatically.  In other circusmstances I have to push up on the slide stop in order for the slide to chamber.  Also, in some circumstances I have no issue.  Anyway, I'm looking for some insight if anyone can help?  Hoping all my lingo is correct as I'm really a virgin gun owner.  Thanks

Couple questions Flex
When the problems happen is when chambering a round or also when unlaoded and racking the slide? Does it also do it when there is no magazine or just when the mag is present? You say you sometimes have to push UP on the slide release, do you mean down? When you got the gun did you field strip it and clean it?

It happens when unloading and racking a slide.(I have no ammo for this gun yet)It happens when the mag is in and out.  Also, I have to push up, but it seems like I have to do that in order for the slide stop to "catch" then I push down in hopes that the slide releases.  And stupidly enough, I have not field stripped and cleaned it.

Hey Blue Hen,

Got the Mak back and intact.  The slidestop is fine.  I had to buy a new hammer because one of the nipples at the bottom broke.  Everything is functioning properly now.  Thanks for the help.
