I bought a Stag from Smyrna Sporting Goods for $925.  A fun gun.  You can go up from there $$ not sure what make's one better then another except for Match Barrels.  Miller's Guns can tell you.  Have fun with it.

I would be willing to go base model but if I can get a used one that's a few steps up I wouldn't mind.

Aslong as its a quality manufacturer there all the same in that price range just with different roll marks on the reciever. If you go new id say go with stag..... Ive handled a few and all have been very nice.
Honey I swear I've had that gun for years!
