I tried one last week in .40...

Went to shooters choice to try a Glock, thinking that is what I wanted (based on what I had read..) but found that I shot the Glock like $H*T and had my best group with the XD.. Would like to try the next smaller size as I think it would be better for concealment..

I own the same model.  I love it.  About 1400 rounds through it and it has been great.  Only 7 documented Misfires due to old Winchester ammo.  Otherwise no fail to load, stovepipes or whatever.  The only issues I have seen is full mags need to be slammed in while reloading faster.  I had a mag fall out after putting it in during an action pistol scenario.  Slam them hard.  It has fired anything I put through it Rem UMC, Winchester white box (only 7 misfires because of ancient, pitted brass ammo) PMC, Critical defense, Zombi Max, Speer Gold Dot, and others that I forget. ( I cannot find a consistent brand of ammo to stay with)

I held the XDS () I think that is the model... it is the compact XD, in .45...

Mag only holds 6 rounds - I think extended mag gives you 7?.

That seems to be the only draw back to me.. but nice gun....  has me thinking...

Not sure how much different the xd is from the xdm ( I think its just ability to change backstraps), but my wife has one and really likes it. We have to have over 1k rounds through it and it was used and it has not jammed but maybe once.

No real difference, except the XDM has a match grade barrel.
