Mine is a Ruger Blackhawk 357 mag. from either the early 80's or late 70's not sure

Its a Russian made Smith & Wesson 3rd model russian chambered 44 russian made in 1898. Some guy that suposedly lived in the woods of Hockessin gave it to my grandfather. I would love to know the story behind the 3 notches on the grip.

That looks like a good canidate for your Thunderwear underpant holster. Just don't "Accidental Discharge"
